The Principessa, with its modern and elegant lines which recall the look of the Azimut range, will take her place as one of the best charter yachts in her class. The is the very first exemplar of the Azimut 105 which was launched in the late spring and made her debut at the Fall European Boat Shows, while the second unit, designed for the American market, will be introduced at the Miami Boat Show in February 2006. The designer, Righini, has excelled in creating a stylish two and a half decked vessel with ample open deck spaces and a long line of windows along the sun and the main decks as well as a large side window on the lower deck which serve to reinforce the feeling of a yacht that’s open to the panorama of sea, sky and shore which surrounds her. On the fly bridge of the 105, two rigid sun roofs support a canvas sunscreen which can provide shade to three quarters of the sun deck area. Here there are four different areas to relax, enjoy a meal or chat with friends. Further aft, there’s a broad sunbathing area with chaises lounges and a hydro-massage tub. The yacht’s tender and jet ski are lodged in a roomy “garage” in the transom. But Righini has not overlooked the interior design: here too he has designed very cleverly, working with a variety of different options for dividing the interior spaces, so as to meet the varying needs of future owners . One version has the owner’s suite forward on the main deck with the head at a lower level, fitted with a hydro-massage tub, a stall shower and twin wash basins, while the four guest staterooms are on the lower deck. A second version locates the owner’s suite and three guest staterooms on the lower deck and dedicates all of the main deck to shared spaces: main saloon, dining room, galley and TV/music room. Carlo Galeazzi is the interior designer who has interpreted the décor with an eye to maintaining a style found elsewhere in the Azimut range. For this new design, he has adapted design elements created for the Azimut 75 introduced at the Genoa Boat Show, further developing and expanding them to achieve an even richer effect. The yacht has been conceived as the ideal extension of the owner’s villa - of his home ashore- and thus some of the decorating features Galeazzi includes come from the world of home décor. For example, the comfortable and welcoming sofas and high-backed armchairs are not fixed to the deck but can be moved around as desired. The cabinetry is in matt cherry wood with a clever use of the wood’s grain to create a three dimensional effect . Curtains in the staterooms are long, flowing down to the deck in graceful folds to contribute to an overall sense of luxury and style. The ceilings are constructed of square panels, with an alternating use of high gloss and opaque inserts which also produces a three dimensional effect. The cabins are light and bright, both night and day, thanks to the very large windows and, once the sun goes down, gentle indirect lighting inset into the wood panelling. In the bathroom compartments, fittings and accessories have a squared-off, modern style. Most of the fabrics used are in light, neutral shades, enlivened by inserts in leather.
